Why I have build this website
I always wanted to build a website in my hobby time and as I always liked hockey it seems like a natural fit. After seeing countless debate on Twitter about particular teams and if they are actually good at drafting I started developped this website with a ranking feature for the draft picks of each teams. As I was developping the ranking and learning about advanced stats, new ideas came along.
The best way I would describe it: It is a mix between basic stats, advanced stats and fantasy hockey tools with always the user experience in mind, so it should be fast to use, simple to understand and easy to find the information you need. It is aimed at the current players and teams, it is not a hockey database, if you want old timers stats, you can go on hockeydb ;)
Expected goals model
The expected goals uses similar data as existing models (shot location, strong side, is it a rebound, is it a rush shot, etc...)
Why doing our own model? First, for the learning associated with building it. Secondly, for having the possibility to improve it in the future.
